Into the new year with Teatox!

Organic, vegan, green smoothies, superfoods, low carb, no carb… This is exactly what our diet should look like. And then comes Christmas or Easter or birthdays… Even I find it hard to say no. However, as I do sport and eat a healthy diet for the most part, these sins are not a problem in moderation. Nevertheless, I resolved to change something last year. Life constantly presents us with changes, whether we like it or not. Suddenly we have to do without something. We often find that difficult. That’s why I made a conscious decision to make a change this time. This makes giving up much easier.

It is also important to inform yourself intensively beforehand. As soon as you have internalized the knowledge, the implementation works almost by itself! So at the end of 2016, I did a lot of research on detox, healthy food, nutrition, etc.! And now, with the new year, it was finally time to put it into practice. You can find out what this detox is, how it works and why you should do it here. read here. This post gives you an insight into my fitness, nutrition and wellbeing diary :)

Teatox Detox Program

New year, new (healthy) life!

Of course, it’s not that easy. That’s why I used the momentum and motivation of the new year to detox for 14 days with the tea products from Teatox and to stick to the recommended diet. And I wasn’t completely alone in this. There was suddenly more fruit in the office and a smoothie on almost every desk ;) This made it easy for me to stay consistent at work too. The tea blends of the Skinny Detox program, which were specially developed to support detoxification, were also a great help. Thanks to the morning tea, it wasn’t difficult to give up coffee for two weeks: The ingredients, such as lemongrass, mate, ginger, dandelion and goji berries, have a mood-enhancing and detoxifying effect and contain many vitamins and other health-promoting properties. To help you wind down in the evening, the evening tea with its digestible and relaxing ingredients, such as lemon balm, yarrow, rooibos tea and hibiscus flowers, supports a restful sleep. I didn’t do any sport until day 4, as I had just recovered from a cold. I went jumping, went to the gym and relaxed on the yoga mat to get closer to what detox actually means to me:

The primary goal of a detox cure is not to lose weight or do a lot of sport, but to cleanse yourself from the inside, slow down and do something good for your mind and body!

But taking more time for sport is definitely part of it for me! And getting rid of the Christmas pounds was a nice side effect… More on this later.

Here are the essential do’s and don’t’s

Detox do’s and don’t’s

Let’s go!

After doing a lot of research into what you can eat and drink and what you should avoid for 14 days, I went shopping and wrote myself a diet plan. I quickly realized that it made sense to start at the weekend, because keeping to this plan alongside work required a lot of planning and preparation. At first, I found it quite easy to change my diet because I had time to cook at the weekend and had used up the last of my Christmas supplies in the days before. So after lots of chocolate and cookies, I was looking forward to light and healthy food. In addition, I drank around 2-3 liters of still water and herbal tea per day.

The first days 1 – 4

I got through the first day full of motivation without any problems. After a headache and slight nausea on day 2, things went steadily uphill after that :) I felt very fit and my body quickly got used to the change. According to the scales, I hadn’t lost any weight by day 4. Apart from that I felt great, I was full of energy and had a very restful sleep. I wouldn’t say that I found it easier to get up in the morning ;) Nevertheless, I got through the day well without coffee and sugar. Even though I occasionally got on my colleagues’ nerves with a growling stomach, I didn’t feel like I had to eat more or eat more.

Half-time days 5 – 9

After 5 days, the motivation was still there. I felt awake and balanced, but I still found it difficult to get out of bed in the morning, which is not unusual in the winter months :P Overall, I felt very well, although I definitely lacked energy in the evening when I was exercising, but this could also be due to the almost 3-week enforced break. Between day 5 and 9 I did more sport again. Even though I’m not a yoga fan, the detox yoga exercises before the evening tea were very relaxing. As good as this cure was for me, I still found myself counting the days from time to time and already looking forward to my first espresso, cake and pasta :)

Countdown days 10 – 14

The 14-day detox cure ended exactly as it started. I was motivated to the end because this diet was simply so good for me. I was only a little weak in the evenings when I was exercising. But even that wasn’t bad, because I learned to listen to my body again, what it needs and what it doesn’t need. I still had difficulty getting up in the morning. I can’t say whether this has to do with the cure or simply the winter.

Conclusion

Looking back, the 14 days flew by and the sacrifice was not as great as initially thought. On the contrary! You simply notice how your body thanks you for this detox cure, because I have felt very good throughout since the 3rd day. In particular, the afternoon slump that often hits me was as good as gone! As I was much more involved with food before and during this time, I ate more consciously and also tried out new dishes or combinations. The only thing I still don’t like is lentils :P In hindsight, I would have liked to have eaten something more varied instead of just varying with fruit and vegetables. I have almost completely overturned the diet plan I initially wrote. It was a good guide, but in everyday life I had to change it from time to time. You can’t always rely on finding all the ingredients you need in winter. Even though I’m looking forward to an espresso and a slice of cake tomorrow, I’m going to keep a lot of things the same: Eat more consciously, listen to my body more, eat fewer carbohydrates, fewer dairy products and consciously enjoy the sins that you indulge in from time to time! ;) Even though the number on the scales hardly changed at first, I have lost a lot of weight and volume:

  • Weight: – 2.5 kg
  • Waist: – 3 cm
  • Belly: – 5 cm
  • Hip: – 3 cm

–> I can really recommend this detox cure to everyone! Thanks to Teatox for the support and this great e-book with information and inspiring recipes!
