Christmas is just around the corner and the Advent season offers us many temptations. We particularly enjoy indulging in sweet treats such as cookies, gingerbread, mulled wine and the like at this time of year. We exercised regularly all year round and then we put on the winter pounds in no time at all. Not so bad in the cold temperatures, of course, but we still want to stay fit and healthy through the winter. That’s why we did a little research into how you don’t have to give up Christmas treats completely and still keep your figure.
Indulge in your favorite Christmas sins in moderation. Every year, as soon as it gets colder, we look forward to speculoos, gingerbread and mulled wine. All of this tastes best at Christmas time, but you don’t have to empty a whole packet of speculoos to keep the treats special :)
Even if you burn more calories on sports days and could therefore consume more calories, alcohol in particular reduces the success of your training. That’s why you should visit the Christmas market the day before or after your training session. Or you can set one or two snacking days per week on which you can eat your way through the Christmas market with a clear conscience :)
We have picked out a few delicious recipes for all those who are a little more disciplined at Christmas time and are looking for healthy versions of Christmas calorie bombs.
Chocolate fluffies
- 2 egg whites
- 50 g powdered sugar
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
- 2 tsp protein powder chocolate
How it works
- Beat the egg whites until stiff
- Sieve the powdered sugar, add the vanilla sugar and protein powder and carefully fold in
- Place small blobs on a baking tray lined with baking paper
- Bake for about 20 minutes at 140 degrees in a preheated oven
- Let it get cold
Cinnamon stars
- 150 g ground almonds
- 100 g dates
- 50 g apple
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
How it works
- Puree the dates with the apple, water and cinnamon. Add the ground almonds and knead everything into a firm dough. If the dough is still too soft and sticky, you can add some ground almonds
- Roll out the dough and cut out
- The cookies do not need to be baked, but will have a nice cookie consistency after about 1 day at room temperature
Vanilla crescents
- 125 g wholemeal spelt flour
- 50 g ground almonds
- 40 g coconut blossom sugar
- 1 sachet of vanilla sugar
- 25 g apple puree
- 50 g milk
How it works
- Mix all the ingredients together and knead into a long sausage
- Wrap in cling film and refrigerate for 30 minutes
- Cut slices from the “dough sausage” and shape into croissants
- Bake at 180 degrees circulating air for 10-15 minutes
- 60 g dried dates
- 60 g dried figs
- 30 g nuts
- 20 g baking cocoa
- 10 g protein powder
How it works
- Put all the ingredients in the blender and mix
- Form small balls from the resulting mixture
- If you prefer, you can also replace the baking cocoa with chocolate protein powder
Enjoy the healthy cookies and, despite everything, enjoy the other treats too if you feel like it! ;) If you go jumping regularly, you can treat yourself to something! :)
